Serve on LDA of Iowa's Board

LDA of Iowa is seeking dedicated persons to serve on the Iowa board of directors who are passionate about improving the quality of life for individuals with learning disabilities and their families.

Time:  The board meets four times per year on a regular basis:  January, April, July and October. The Annual Membership Board meeting is held in October.  Meetings may be scheduled to be in-person or by Zoom and typically are held on a weekend day.  Special meetings are required on a need basis.  If a conference is held, board members are expected to participate in and attend the conference.

There is no reimbursement for travel or other board-related expenses, but some may be tax-deductible. Terms are for three years; there is also an option to serve as a one-year presidential appointee.

In order to be a successful board member, individuals need to be committed to giving their time, talents, and treasures. Each member brings special talents to the board which is very important for committee and project assignments. In addition, board members are required to make an annual pledge to LDA-IA. Any amount is accepted, seen only as a gesture of the board’s commitment to the organization. The amount of an individual board member’s donation is only known by the treasurer, coordinator and audit committee, and is kept in confidence.
